Oddly, neither of them are littler than me. I'm the shortest in the family by several inches which I think is unfair.
We had so much fun! I love having visitors, especially ones I like. We went to the beach on Thursday and it was gorgeous. The regular beach was really crowded so we went to one of the more private ones and it was just perfect. We had naps, talked about girl things, dipped only our toes into the ocean. It was a great beach day. And we took no pictures. You can probably imagine three manatees sunning themselves on the beach without pictures of it. I wore my new swimsuit "Red Menace" and it was super cute.
Friday we went to the Fashion District and I think they didn't like it as much as I did.

| The "Fashion District" sounds deceptively attractive. It's actually pretty gross and crazy. Tons of people trying to peddle their discount wares on the street and from little tiny shops lining alleys, like this one. Lots of weeeeeird lingerie and old lady clothes and some cute stuff. Plus we ate hot dogs wrapped in bacon with fried onions on them. |
On the way home from shopping we drove past Grauman's and the sidewalk with the stars on it where people stand in their outfits and you can take pictures of them- you know that road. Andrea got excited and took pictures of a couple of things:
 |
| HARRY POTTER!!! She (and everyone in their right mind) is so excited for HP! Every billboard we passed was met with pointing and screaming "It's so cool! Oh my gosh, I'm so excited! It's going to be awesome!!" However, in all fairness, those HP posters really are awesome, and it will be the best finale to an 8 part movie series ever. EVER. |
 |
| Also she saw a pretty good Storm Whomper (Storm Stomper? Storm Blaster? I don't remember what they are called), but since we were driving this is the best picture we got. There was a pretty good character selection that day though. The standard slutty tinkerbells and catwomans, a spongebob, transformer, spiderman... I forget the rest. |
Also we went to sushi with Evan and Lynn, who are my favorite aunt and uncle. Sorry other relatives! I lived in their house and they are awesome and I like their kids. You just can't compete. Besides, most other relatives can only compete on a novelty level anyway. (On George's side that is. Julie's family is all sane and nice and pretty. Sometimes I'm amused that George comes from crazy family- he's so normal sauce. But Julie's nuts, and her whole family has their original teeth and no criminal record. Go figure.) I mean, I can like the aunt with the beard who tells people to their face which of their children are the ugliest and how many twosies she's had this week. But she just can't compare on an actual "awesomeness" level to E&L. Merely amusement.
Saturday we went to the Getty. "Angel of the Citadel" puts a smile on every one's face. It is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. So is it good art or not? I don't know.

| I told them to stand over there for a picture and this is what I got. |
 |
| When I told them the first picture looked stupid and boring I got this. Better. |
One of the many, many, many things I adore about where we live (besides great weather, awesome friends, 13 miles to the beach, a zillion fun things to do, safe only semi-ghetto neighborhood, etc.) is that the city has great summer fun programs. At the park a block away from us they do free concerts and fireworks. You guys know how I feel about fireworks. At another park they do free outdoor movies. I think a movie being outdoors makes it like 59x more awesome. We watched Casablanca Saturday night. Perfection.
When we arrived at the park to watch the aforementioned movie we met this great dane.
He was nice. When Aubrey sat down he climbed right into her lap with no invitation. That's what I love about dogs and babies. They just assume everyone loves them and is there to play and snuggle with them all the time. The world would be a better place if we could all assume that everyone was nice and wanted to play, instead of that everyone is d.b.'s and wants to steal our kidneys.
 |
| I think it was the biggest dog I have ever seen. And it likes to cuddle. |
Visit Conclusion: Awesome! I was sad when it was over.
But I have good news. Next weekend Justin is going to Nephi- and I don't have to go! Don't get me wrong, I adore his family. They are super great. But I loathe going to Nephi during the Ute Stampede. Or ever. So I'm really excited that he's going and he will have so much fun and I won't be there!!! He'll take lots of pictures of how adorable the nephews are and I will miss them, and I'll console myself with the thought of not having to go the rodeo. :) Everything's coming up Melodie.
