We took a weekender. I love being able to have weekenders! Everything about it is fun. I love being excited all day at work because as soon as you get home it's time for a vacation! And I love when Justin drives me around in the car. And I love seeing new places. And I love staying in hotels. And I love being all relaxed when you get home after all then fun. And I love seeing my dog-babies after being away because they are so extra funny.
This weekender was to the Gilroy Garlic Festival. Apparently Gilroy, CA grows a lot of garlics, and you know how every small town has their summer festival that they do? (like the Ute Stampede) Gilroy does garlic. And y'all know how I feel about garlic. The festival is giant. Like Ute Stampede x4 - rodeo. And now I'll list all the things that I ate:
Just kidding. The internet would run out of room. But the food was delicious! However, it was not the highlight. This lady was:

That's right. It's Megan, who I love. She and her fam were the whole reason we weekendered in the first place. It was so fun to see them! Good friends who you would go to a garlic festival with are hard to come by and we sure miss them since they moved.

| The rest of the Garlic Fest-ing group, inclusive of Josh's lady-work friends. I like them too. |
Saturday we pool partied for Mason's 2nd birthday at Megan's awesome sister's house. Holy crap. Mason is adorable. More on that later.
I wish I would have taken a picture of the dog situation. Update! Megan did! Boom.

| What?! What sort of dog actually likes to get wet?! Not mine, I guess. |
Sometimes you can judge the fun-level of a party by how dirty the birthday boy is after.
Obviously it was a HUGE hit! Okay, so he's not exactly dirty in the pool picture, but he sure was having fun with JP. I had to put it in here somewhere. Do you love the one where he looks like he's strutting on a little dirt catwalk? Funny little guy.
Sunday we drove home, taking the scenic route of the pacific coast highway. We drove through a lot of small towns before we got the the coast. Turns out central CA is just like central UT. Same thing. I swear every town we saw was a little clone of Lehi or Spanish Fork or one of those other little towns, including all the people in it. But the coast is a whole different situation.
It was so gorgeous. You guys, they have fields of strawberries growing right next door to the ocean. And there are houses hidden in the craziest little nooks all down the coast. And the local flora was delightful and surprisingly varied. Amazing drive. It is a must do for all people who enjoy nice things. There is probably even more pretty stuff if you go further north than we were. Maybe. Anyways here's some lame pictures we took from the car.
Pictures taken from the car with one's phone are bound to look like crap, but I pretty much don't care because looking at them still reminds of how pretty everything was. And I think that's the whole point of pictures anyway. Memories and stuff.
Summary: Super-fun weekender and winner of the best ever garlic bread! Plus it was fun to see our friends. Oh, and also I took this picture of bike that we saw at the 3rd Street Promenade a couple weeks ago.
